Their tag-line says "The Oldest Running Restaurant in Angeles City where Chicken Tastes Heavenly!!!""... Sadly, I would have to DISAGREE

On our latest trip to Subic Bay, we decided to make a stopover at Angeles for lunch. It has been 2-3 years already since we last ate at Angeles Fried Chicken.I can't really remember anything about the food... except that the restaurant kept popping up on my search results for places to eat in Angeles City Pampanga. Ok, so we thought of having lunch there, especially since their online menu seemed promising.

 Heavenly? Ummm... not quite..

My apologies in advance to the die-hard fans of Angeles Fried Chicken... I am just writing our family's personal experience. If you love it there, I respect your opinion... Hope you also respect mine. :-)

Since the place was known to cook a mean fried chicken, we decided to order a 2-piece snack meal at Php 105.00 and a 3-piece lunch meal at Php 135.00 served with rice and gravy. It was supposed to be their specialty, and being a fan of fried chicken, I was really excited to try it (again). I also ordered their Mongolian Barbeque ala AFC descibed in thir menu  as "their delectable version, you wouldn't want to try another."

Before I start ranting about the food... let me just let you guys know that the service here is waaaay sloooooow. That day I remembered that their extremely slow service was also our problem the last time. Still the same slow service, after 3 years.. sheesh. It took them almost 45-minutes to serve us our food, and to think we just ordered fried chicken and a stir-fried mongolian dish (which can take only a maximum of 5-7 minutes to cook). C'mon now.

Lunch Meal (Php 135)
3-pieces Fried Chicken, Gravy, Coleslaw, Rice

Ok, so on to  their Fried Chicken... Seriously... To be terribly honest, Wowie & I agreed that we should've just headed to Jollibee, KFC, or McDonald's for waaaaaaaaaaaaay better tasting Fried Chicken. It was so disappointing that we left the restaurant mum, 'til I blurted out after 5 minutes that I was still hungry, and quite unhappy with our meal. Their fried chicken was dry and lacked flavor. It was also served at room temperature. Wow. The gravy that came with it was not right... it seemed as if their cook burnt it. Wowie even said it had a faint cockroachy taste to it. Nice.

Mongolian Barbeque ala AFC (Php 125.00)

Mongolian Barbeque ala AFC... wow... if this is what they call their own delectable version that I wouldn't want to try another... My goodness, their "ala AFC" bit is sooo not rocking it at all. They should just call this their stir-fried togue dish instead. It tasted like the filling for Lumpiang Togue, I swear. I've tried several restaurants offering Mongolian Barbeque, and this is so NOT Mongolian Barbeque. Delectable? Give me a break.

Side order of French Fries (Php 65.00)
French Fries, soggy. The only thing I liked about it was the fact that we got to use the mayonnaise  dip on the Fried Chicken since the gravy tasted funny.

What a disappointing and uneventful meal.

old gravy too, if I may say...

MY VERDICT

What I Liked:
> Seriously... nothing... Price was ok, but with the quality of the food.... C'mon. Ok fine, the mayo dip.

What I Didn't Like:
> The SUPER SLOW SERVICE, THE ROOM-TEMPERATURE FOOD, THE BLAND FRIED CHICKEN, THE MONGOLIAN DISH.

Will I Go Back?:
> Never again.

Do I Recommend This Place?:
> No. When you're in Balibago, Angeles City, I suggest you try other restaurants instead. If you can't find one, and you're craving for Fried Chicken, just go to Jollibee or some other fast-food place.

  1. try out C's restaurant the next time you go back to angeles, pampanga. it's located on the street going to friendship highway which is parallel to the main road of clark air base. they serve (if not the best)very yummy authentic italian pizza! =)that is the resto where i got to eat a rolled pizza that had arugula sprouts in it, even before yellow cab's dear darla pizza was launched in the market. they also serve pasta an other italian dishes (chicken, beef, salad, soup, etc.). just a warning, it is kinda pricey though. but despite that, a lot of people, even celebs and high profiled peeps go there, proof of which are the mounted plates on the wall that they have signed during their visit. they have a very cozy ambiance and very hospitable staff. you can also meet and talk with the italian chef/owner who, sometimes, personally serves the food that you order =) if you wanna eat and enjoy authentic italian food, go to C's =)
